Looks authentic, even has the correct stamps on the back of the headstock for a Chinese-made Höfner Contemporary Series HCT 500/1 CV. The lack of a logo is weird! Here's a real one:

It does take a certain amount of skill just to make one look that close. Is it some kind of test run at the same factory in China where they make the other budget model Hofners? (Hofner has never offered a true lefty "Cavern" in the lower prices, only in the 2.5-3.5K German model)

"Seller does not accept returns." That kinda kills the deal. Seller could send me a wooden stick and what recourse would I have?

When bonafide HCTs cost around $500 anyway, I'd stay away from anything even remotely iffy.

Is it possible that bass was made in the same factory as the HCTs?

And I was wondering last week how other Hofner violin copies are. Does the Epiphone violin bass stack up to the HCT? What about whatever others are out there? I had an HCT and loved it, but it's a different animal than the German or German/US Custom Shop ones.

I agree except Hofner does not offer any$500 China/import in lefty for the Cavern model. They only have German made Cavern lefties and they are $2500 or more.
