Happiness, peace, and joy to all, no matter your belief or non-belief.

So what bass, amp, or pedal do you plan to snag either during the holidays or the coming year?

I'm after a 4/4 double bass. I could see being able to get one by next Xmas, but it's a goal. I plan to spend hours after hours to learn how to play it. I'm 60, so I'd better rush if I want to get even on the low amateur level.

Nothing planned. On the contrary, I'm letting some stuff go. Still absolutely chuffed with the Warwick Streamer LX that I bought in January to accompany its 5-string brother. I've had little desire to play anything else all year! I've never really experienced that before, usually I like to rotate between my main basses and play them all equally much.

That is great! Nothing sounds quite like a true upright bass!

Can I ask what advantage a full-size upright has over a ¾?

Just purchased a used MTD Kingston Z 5 fretless. So, for the new year - not much of anything. I plan to sell a few items.

I like those huge orchestral basses. I know the 3/4 is a lot easier to handle, but I just want one of those big fahkers and make it rumble my guts out of my body. I'm more interested in playing it like a classical instrument.

And most of all, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

Just treated myself to a Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow guitar. But I think my next bass purchase might be to try fanned fretted bass. I'm digging the Spector Dimension.

I saw that Southpaw got a bunch of those TV Yellow Les Pauls. I'd be tempted if they offered the double cutaway lefty. Gibson made some lefties a few years ago.

I ordered this bass several months ago from Sweetwater, which doesn't advertise these left-handed. It's everything that I had hoped it would be. Swapped out the strings for piccolo strings.

That is an attractive instrument. I'd love to try one of those out.

Wow, jealous! I didn't know they made the maple version in lefty too. I have the guitar version (but with the all-mahogany body) and it's my favourite acoustic.

I flipped the stock photo- I ordered one of these from the Sire website direct. Lake Placid Blue- to me, it looks more like the "Mars Music" limited run Fender Jazz bass blue, which is a great color. These excellent basses are available at Thomann, for less..but you pay shipping, which brings it close to the direct Sire price with free shipping. The only issue, is, there's a wait if you want anything other than natural, sunburst, or black. Looking forward to this arriving around April, or earlier if I'm lucky.

I am getting a Mark Bass Amp, love the sound, size and the weight. I think I am going from 80Lbs to 20Lbs and getting better sound.

I'm having my late 70's Kramer DMZ4000 bass refinished. (The one in my profile pic here.) The body is maple and never really looked that great. Plus, some owner before me went drill crazy and had LOTS of switches in there that were subsequently disconnected. The refinisher is filling in those holes and painting it Fiesta Red. I've had a new custom pickup surround cut out of translucent tortoise shell, and have new EMG PX pickup in the Ivory colour to go in there as well. It's gonna look sick!

Got my Christmas gift to myself put back together yesterday. Still need to give the body an extra buffing. But it's already looking killer. Definitely safe to say, there ain't no other lefty '79 Kramer DMZ4000 in this colour/configuration.
