They're not. This is overpriced, especially given the mod with frets, though since they are custom made instruments using the finer woods, $5000 and up is not uncommon. In this case, you're looking at an early lefty Wal, so there's a rarity factor there, but Wal always offered lefties...for a price. They're amazing instruments, BTW, especially their fretless basses. Best fretless tones on the planet, IMO.

Yes, the price is optimistic, but there aren't many of these floating around, and Wal is so backlogged right now that they're not taking orders. And those who have placed orders are waiting years for fulfillment.

I knew this bass.......
Sadly, it belonged to a friend. He'll be
heartbroken to see what they did.
It sold on Reverb.com originally for
$7400. That was back in June.
