Seem like a fair price.

Has anybody tried the Pro II? I had a Pro I for about 5 minutes and hated it. Awful fretwork, PUP was okay but lacking that certain organic "something" that makes for a great P (Much preferred the PUPs in the Am Stds), and the overhyped '63 neck was not comfortable for me.

I have a maple fingerboard Pro II. It's the first time Fender's offered an American made non-custom maple fingerboard P in the past 40 years or so, right? Do those 1983 era, C width, 12" radius atrocities count?

The ergo curve on the heel will probably never look right to me.

The neck profile has changed since the Am Standard /Am Series. It's definitely feels thicker in the mid positions, frets 5-12.

I have gigged it yet, but through the headphones its sounds great.

I think my dream Precision with be a circa 2009 era precision with the addition of today's fingerboard and finish choices. Better yet, let's go with a vintage radius B neck, too.

One man's ceiling is another man's floor, as Paul Simon sang.

I put together a new and loaded AmPro I JB model and an AmPro I neck, and it's my favorite to play of the 7 basses I own. The neck is perfect in my hands and because of that, my playing is more fluid. Somehow that frees me to enjoy the hell out of my playing and to try new things, get adventurous, have fun. It feels like a toy in my hands, and so I can sling it around and play it, and it sounds as good as any JB I've heard, or to rephrase: It sounds as good as any JB I've heard.

Mine might be an exception? Subjective because the bass fills the need for my music and productions?

I was referring to the Am Pro II Precision neck. I haven't tried an AM Pro II Jazz bass. Apple/Oranges.

Ha ha, I was replying to PJ's post, not yours. Sorry for the mix up.

Ditto! I love the 70's B necks. MY '72 P has one. But it's a maple neck. Would love to find a B with a rose wood fretboard
