….. why they didn’t clean it before slapping a hefty price tag on it is beyond me….

I had one - four string, pine cone head, vermilion, natural finish. Very clean tones, crystal clear, and top-notch workmanship. That was one that I wish I had not sold. (Sold it to a serviceman at a good price.)
