I'm always interested in others' musical lives, and I'd like to know what bands you're playing in, or to know whether you spend time recording, or just playing and singing with friends or family.

I realize all of this has changed for the moment, but I should rather ask, what is your usual musical life like?

I'm not in a band currently but want to form one band doing Beatles and Pink Floyd covers and another doing my original songs. I really enjoy sitting with my acoustic and singing with friends.

I play most genres but British rock is my passion--Beatles, Floyd, Zep, Who, Clapton, JB, Stones, Elton, etc.. I enjoy playing their songs when I'm in a cover band. Sometimes I'm the bassist, at other times, I'm the guitarist. I like to play both live and really enjoy it when there are two of us in a band who like playing each and can swap duties during a show.

I have played in many bands in the past and still play gigs on occasion, I record alot at home and always looking to collaborate. With the current stay at home at a fun jam with my son and daughter. She played piano and sang, my son on drums and I did some bass and some guitar. We never did this before and it was really cool.

Here is my current project I am working on http://www.bobsbargainbasementstudio.com/imay.php

I have one five-piece band, classic rock/classic country, that is fairly decent. We (used to) perform at least twice a month. There is another seven-piece band that performs a stage show only once a month. And, there is a semi-acoustic five-piece group (mostly from church) that plays original, Americana-type music that performs roughly once a month but often on Sundays. So according to my wife, I am "tied up" three Saturdays a month plus another date. lol

I haven't been involved in recording for a few years now. The nearest studios would be at least 40 minutes away, and working full time I cannot stay there until 1am and then get up before 6am for work.

Friends and family? ALL these guys (and girls) are friends and family.

I currently don't have a band. I used to play in a female-fronted, heavily pop-influenced metal band but when our singer was pregnant with her 5th child she simply didn't have time anymore, and our lead guitarist went to work abroad after getting his chemistry PhD and lives in Barcelona now with no plans of coming back. The remaining guitarist, drummer and me have been on the lookout for a new singer, but are having a real hard time.

Recently the three of us have performed as the live band for a project of our drummer's brother, who plays melodic doom metal. There will hopefully be more gigs in the future, and there is an EP in the making. I'm not sure if there will be a part for us in the recording process, but we'll definitely be playing live in this setting again :)

My band has been doing studio work since October.
Considering the current situation we are going to continue that project and incorporate video recording and production work that we have wanted to do but just didn't have time.
We have been wanting and needing to turn our attention to our electronic media presence and this is the best opportunity with things as they are now.
We have needed to pull down old recordings that we have posted on YouTube and replace them with the much higher quality we are able to get now due to studio upgrades we have done over the last year.

I've been in a band going on 6 years now, we do mostly covers and a few originals. Prior to the quarantine I also hosted a semi-regular open-house jam at one of our local dive bars :-)
With all that on the kibosh, I'm playing a ton of acoustic guitar with my wife. At home of course.
I've been telecommuting for a few weeks now, so saving a ton of time on commuting which allow for more practice time!
It'll be nice to get back into the gig saddle when all this blows over. I'm addicted to playing live!

I alternate between 3 different bands and do studio work as well. I have/had over 120 shows booked for the year, and so far I've lost 6 gigs and a recording session. I was finally carving out some semblance of a living doing just music before the virus hit. :( As of now, I've just been noodling and doing instrument setup work and repairs.

I started a new project in the fall, but this lockdown has severely impacted our rehearsals.
We're an old school punk cover and original band. We don't do much hardcore.

Sara and Doomsday Machine.

The cover band I was playing in lost its singer about a year ago and we were not able to find another one, so I'm just doing online musical collaboration. Everything on the site (Wikiloops) is original, no covers allowed. Here's one I did today w my '83 G&L L1000 I love the tone of that bass

I do a bunch of different gigs here in Toronto. Recording and live. But the one that takes up most of the time - and get the most dedication - is White Cowbell Oklahoma. It's 95% original stuff. We run a range of influence from ZZ Top and Allman Bros to Deep Purple, Zappa and metal. I've been in the band for 8 years, but the band is celebrating 20 years. This year was supposed to be a really big one for gigs but.... well... you know. Our bread and butter is really in the European market. Especially, the Netherlands, Germany, northern France. We were literally just about to announce a bunch of dates in EU and UK when everything went south virus wise. Looks like we ain't gonna have anything to announce now. Ah well. Better that we're all safe and sound. I guess it'll have to be a "21st Anniversary" tour. Ha. We've been working on a new record too but... also on hold for now.

Here's us pulling it together at a radio thing we did a bunch of years ago. We were mid tour (a long Canadian one) and thought it was just an interview. But then they asked us where our gear was. We were all so tired and hungover... guh.... but it turned out not half bad.

And here's just some sill videos for songs from our last couple of records...

Hoping this helps you through some isolating times.
