Seems to be one of the "better" ones with alder body and good old big tuner machines. My friend has a jazz bass of such sort and that bass is really nice piece of gear. Nothing like a 90's basswood mij jazz I used to own.

Is it just me or doesn't the neck S/N make it a 2002-2004 one?

Optical illusion... if you look at the picture of just the headstock, you'll see the G-string has normal side clearance...

Yeah something just seems a little off.....I didn't think they used the word "Crafted" until much later. On my 90's 62 reissue they use "made in Japan" :?:

Well,

Wrote them about the nut width and serial number. Got a repsonse saying they’d measure the nut and look into dating the serial.

That was five days ago and nothing since.

Hope someone else has better luck fishing for details.
