Holy #(^%&!&^~! I remember when I could have bought a mint used one for $900 25 years ago. But folks were didding them big time because of the short scale and claims they would not intonate properly ...
I am now kicking myself in the butt big-time!

I don't usually like multi-wood builds, but they are really nice looking.
Proportions don't look shorty - I'd always assumed they were more like 32".

Is the tail/anchor off centre?

...position of "G" saddle relative to "D" saddle looks off to me.
Some 30" shorties work better with medium scale strings, but you probably have to fuss about with gauges to get good, regular intonation?

I've never looked that close to an Alembic - they have always been too expensive for my blood - but see those screws close to a timber joint line? That's bad engineering as it tends to encourage splitting along that join, particularly if its close to the body edge.

I assumed the price included hand delivery by Stanley himself? (like Gene Simmons is doing with his new Box Set)

I think the future expense in furniture polish to keep this looking tip-top has just pushed this bass out my price bracket

I''m surprised Alembic missed this in QC, didn't correct it, and allowed it out the door.. I wonder if the seller knows of this? If he's the original buyer, he should send it back and have the tailpiece correctly re-installed...especially for That price...

Just wondering if you're aware that your seventh picture, showing a close-up of the bridge section, shows that the string retainer has apparently been installed crookedly, and to the left of the center neck stringer... hard to imagine this getting past Alembic QC... or is the picture itself distorting the alignment?

No disrespect to you, and a beautiful bass, but thought you would want to know...

Got this reply back from the seller...

"This is correct. The bridge is exactly centered for proper alignment with the neck. The brass string retainer is 1mm off center to even out the stress of the string tails, the E being straight down & the G being ever so slightly angled."

Thanks for the quick reply... In looking back at the picture, I see what you mean... makes me wonder if all SC models have the same offset?

Most have 2 stringers & the offset is less noticeable. Mine has 3 stringers.

I have a friend who has a right hand Stanley Clark model... I'll contact him, and see if he notices the offset on string retainer...
