Hi guys, i don't know how many of you were on the old DP forum. If you remember there was a project going on to make Bach (a Czech guitar company) build a nice non reverse Thunderbird bass. Now it's done and the bass is great, everybody are very satisfied with it (you can check the Last Bass outpost forum for more info). As someone remember i was trying to find 25 southpaws to make the same project in a lefty version, i have already spoken with the guys at Bach and they are into it, as long as there is a request for 20 or more basses, so I'm trying to get the thing going. Who's in?

I found a thread with pix on the Last Bass Outpost site:

http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=2509.0

That is one sharp looking bass. What would be the available finishes and price?

There's more here http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=434.1005 .
Personally i'd love a natural mahogany finish, the righty comes in white, (gibson) blue or black.
the price is 160€.

What would be the estimated total price + shipping in US dollars?

I noticed that there are 1 & 2 pickup versions and you mentioned different colors, will these options be available to us or will they have to all be to the same spec?

Hi Iome,
There's LOTS of us here from the DP forum, so I'm sure you'll find some people here familiar with the Bachbird talk. I'm also a member at the BassOutPost. The BOP is a good board.

The Bachbirds did turn out great. What was the wait time on them? That's about $225 u.s. funds, so very cheap. I'm out of the loop on the other details of these basses, weren't they just bodies with no necks? Or are they full basses now? I thought I remembered somewhere that something wasn't included with the bass (hardware, pickups..?), or has that changed? Definitely please fill us in as clearly on all details of this project. If it's a good deal I'm sure we can coerce a few guys here to get one, I know the T-Bird is a much missed bass for lefty guys. Thanks for bringing it up here.

Ya, more details please. At that price point, I might get two of them if they are available in different colors or finishes.

Ok,
lets see...this is the discussion from the BOP: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=434.0
There's more than 1000 posts but if you start reading from page 65 then you should get an idea and see whats it all about. It's a complete bass in mahogany with set neck and one Artec alnico v humbucker, this is the only version available. for the price and colors read above. The first 10 basses had a 42 mm* body, while the rest came with a 32 mm* body like the original Gibson.
You can also take a look at the Bach site: http://www.bachmusik.com/en/c100008/bass-guitar/?page=4 . The bass come completed, all parts are included, no stripped bodies, necks or other parts, only thing not included is the gigbag.

* = For US members: 42 mm = 1.653543307" ( one inch, sixtyfive feets, thirtyfive toes and some nails...); 32 mm = 1.25984252" (you got it) Just joking, dont get me wrong.

I don't like the non-reverse T-bird, only the standard reverse models. But I must admit, it looks sharp in white. In that bassoutpost-thread I see one with two pickups. Did the owner mod it himself, or did he order it that way?

Yes, that's a Dutch guy, he was the first to get it. He cevered the Artec with a NOS tbird cover and added a tbird pickup.

LOL, I didn't look at the guy's username. I know him from a Dutch forum, he owns a couple of very nice Gibson Les Paul and Triumph basses and similar shortscales.

So is this something we should formalize a bit and try to see if there's enough interested people?

OK, please start a new thread on it in the Lefty Bassist Business forum that compiles all the details on the bass in your intro post and I'll sticky it and we'll get it going. :)
