Also check out the sellers other items for sale, he has the Neck Plate (with SN), Neck and knobs for sale. I know it's all about the money but I hate folks that dismantle vintage stuff and sell as individual parts. There oughta be a law against this.

Agreed. I hate when people part out rare instruments. :x

Gorgeous '67 Tele BTW. My lord!

damn.. hes gonna make bank on parting this one up. All the parts are up on the bay for sale. Sad!!!

On a side note, that is the 3rd Fender "no patent" logo on an early 70's P bass I have seen. I have one and was wondering for a while if it were a re-decal. This concludes they did cut the patent numbers off on some early 70's basses. :)

Yep, I'm pretty sure you're right. I've been watching for the same thing since I bought a 73 P bass with a"no patent" logo a couple of years ago. I've seen a half dozen or since.

Putting all the parts together I can see how beautiful this bass was...
Would be nice if it had at least tried to sell it as one piece first...

I agree 100% Paulo! So much, in fact, that being the smarta$$ I am I went ahead and asked the seller that same question.

I thought about at least bidding on the body and neck but I'm ocd. Not having the rest of the original parts would haunt me forever. I basically said to the seller that in order to piece the bass back together a person would have to win almost 10 auctions at the same time...not likely. I mentioned how complete left handed basses of that spec and era are becoming increasingly hard to find. I havn't heard back and what I said makes no difference but it had to be said.

Obviously he's not left handed... I hesitate to think that a lefty would part-out a rare lefty Fender like this.... damn righthanders!

Will be interesting to see what happens in the last day of bidding for these "parts".... and what the final winning bids total up to... I'm hoping to see they all sell for less than if he had kept the bass together and gotten CMV.. Current Market Value... which would be, what, $2000-2500-or-more, considering the year, and "mojo" condition?

I believe you are right. He would have more than likely gotten more $ for it in one piece (possibly my money). Less hassle, one sale, one listing, one shipment. Theres alot of irony here with this situation.

Criminal.

Unless I'm missing it, it looks like he doesn't have the original pots listed. Also a bit of neutral and negative feedback in the past year, so bid with caution.

I agree be careful. I wondered about the pots also. I would be concerned about what hasn't been said. Nothing about the neck or truss rod.
Whats up with the dark color in the neck pocket? IMO the only bid prices that seem low enough to consider are the body and the neck {assuming no functional issues) The the lefty tuners are in a decent price range and maybe the neck plate. The rest of the bid prices are questionable unless you win everything. Since that's not guaranteed you could get stuck with nothing more than a bunch of over priced parts.

Damn, I wanted that blood-tort pick guard. I got sniped out last second. These parts ending might be close to what the bass should of sold for to begin with...... Shame!!

I was watching it too...
I'm not sure if I'm close enough but according to my calculations, after Ebay fees and PayPal fees he must made about $1500, right?

Assuming it was a fully functioning bass, he really screwed himself big time. I have a 70-71 essentially the same bass except maple fret board, and no way in hell would I sell it for $1500.
