That is beautiful! I think I saw that advertised somewhere else recently - I think it may be a short scale.

I have to say, I think it would look infinitely nicer if it had a dark fingerboard.

And a longer neck!

While I appreciate the beautiful woodwork with all the laminates and everything looking really solid, I don't really like that bodyshape. It looks especially quirky and rather bulky with that shortscale neck attached! Would probably look better on a fullsize instrument.

Where does this guy Chris get all these instruments to sell?

I ask this assuming he's more of a buyer/seller than a player, so maybe I'm wrong.

On a side note, Dan from Guitar Showcase (San Jose) has told me there's a guy in Henderson, NV who "buys a ton of fine lefty guitars and basses."

I've always wonder who that is.

Nope, you're spot on. ch1 (Chris) has been in business on eBay for many years now and has a well established business. As I've mentioned in other threads, contact him in person and get a 10% discount off of eBay prices.

I'm brain-cramping on his eBay handle unfortunately. He also posts the same items on Craigslist, but I haven't seen any of his listings in over a year ... Henderson is about 3.5 hours from me on the road to Vegas. Maybe that's why I gloss over his postings

That is one beautiful bass! Being born in San Francisco, and raised in-and-around Santa Rosa, Ca, where Alembic hails from, I'm totally down with Everything about this Bass! Love the shape, woods, fit-and-finish, and the way the woods contrast, and accentuate one-another. If I had the cash, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! :D

Here's a recent one. I believe he's had some other listing recently as well.

You're right! the original poster's auction is still up... Two different sellers, both with a 100% ratings, one in San Diego, the other in Long Beach; so they're not far from each other... I wonder what the backstory is on this bass, and subsequent sale?

Interesting, the original $1500 listing shows 'Sold' when I look at it.

So, the sale on this bass, http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEFTY-2008-Alem ... 7675.l2557, was on September 4th, and sold for $1500... the current listing, http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Alembic-Fr ... SwYIxX6oyB, is a Buy It Now, SO: it would appear the the current seller bought it from the the Last Seller, and is now trying to make a tidy profit off it... seems we all weren't looking at the sell-by dates.... ;)
