Pricing is rediculous though! These sell for max 800 euros dead mint here in Europe (if you can find one). I paid 400 for mine.

THERE IS ONE PROBLEM WITH THIS BASS...The low E tuning machine slips whenever you get the string close to being up to pitch. Since it is an enclosed tuner you are not able to repair it. It can easily be replaced with a new set of tuning machines but I thought I would let its future owner decide what those tuning machines should be. You could also watch the internet for the originals. I saw one of the tuners (Ibanez Velve Tune BII) on eBay this week but it was for the opposite side of the neck and was black chrome.

As us "yanks" say, this seller is swinging for the fences.... for the asking price, and from what Jeroen says, this bass should be in museum quality condition.... a very beautiful bass though!

I want one of these

I was the guitar tech at Sam Ash Music in Brooklyn, in 1979. I saw plenty of these MC924 basses after their introduction... and the MC 824, and the fretless and even the 8 string models. Several things come to mind..
Firstly, these basses SOUND killer! They seemed to me, to be Ibanez's answer to the Alembics of the day. I would LOVE to have one, even with the issues I'm about to mention.
Secondly, the tone is just great, but like the Danelectros I own,- these basses were VERY noisy. the pickups and the active circuit boosting the signal, made it one of those rotate in the place you will be standing during the gig to stop the RF basses.
And thirdly, this is why I never ordered one. They put two different length steel stiffening bars under the fingerboard... kinda like Warmoth does now... only Warmoth's rods do not render the setup as difficult as it was with the MC-924.
The truss rod - when adjusted correctly according to the payer's preference, is there to counteract the effect of string tension and resultant neck forward bow. Those asymetrical steel rods, made setting one up a bit of a frustrating experience.
I still want one. I'd put in in my fixture, and plane the board, and refret it anyway, if it had issues.
P.S., Those basses were $450.00 and they came with with a burgundy Ibanez case, in 1981.
