I have one of these and it's great! It's nice having one guitar that I don't care about dinging up when I tinker late at night. And hell, one that I can let my kids bang on when they want to join in the fun:

And SOLD! I had to buy this since I'm still waiting on body and neck from Warmoth and I have shows coming up soon.

Your video is what really sold me. Your kids have better technique than I do.

One thing to note if you want to upgrade the pickups: the bridge pickup is actually sized for a neck-sized jazz pickup. I had to have the opening routed to fit an aftermarket EMG P/J set.

(FWIW, I wasn't crazy about the EMGs and sold them to a board member, so that's a G&L MFD in there now with no bridge pickup (a poor-man's SB-1 :) ). The MFD P is a drop-in replacement, but a bridge MFD would require further routing.)

Cool that was a good price!

That is good to know, I was not aware of that, and had I ordered the wrong size pup that would've been aggravating. The gigs I have lined up are for 60s Peruvian punk rock, so I'm thinking this bass may not need any upgrades just yet. I have Lollar's here, and however tempted I may be, I'm trying to save those for my parts build.

'Los Saicos' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8MVWaNxD_s

Fun stuff. Most of the lyrics are gibberish, but if you translate some of the lyrics they're singing about eating chocolate in a mental hospital, and drinking blood from skulls

Cool! I just listened to that whole thing. Did some reading too and it sounds like Lima had quite a scene back in the day. Good stuff.

Well, I guess this wasn't meant to be. I got a tracking number last week, and the package was never scanned. No record of it ever even being picked up in the UPS system. GC had to open a case for a lost package. UPS says the case is resolved, yet the guitar is nowhere to be found. I'm sure I'll get a refund, though.

That's a major drag! Here's another. It's missing the J pickup, but the P is upgraded:

Or you could try one of the cool-looking new Ibanezes. I bet the look would go with your sound. This one a b-stock at a discount:

But if you just want a cheap beater to hold you over:

Never got to try one of those but as far as I've heard it's a good bang for the buck.

I second that: they are pretty good, well-rounded, lovable instruments of world domination.

To my defense (for not keeping them), necks tend to shrink quite a bit when Canadian Winter hits and I grew tired of filling, sanding and truss rod adjusting...

To their defense, I had to do it to pretty much all my basses :D
