Maybe???? Don't know, not up on this stuff at all. I haven"t seen one before. Some mods/ repair. Just thought I'd pass it on and see what I might learn.

Looks like the body shape has been significantly altered. Can't find any Musician basses that look like that. Been wanting one for ages too!

LOL!

Yeah, not even close... it looks like my daughter's 3rd grade class built that in my garage.

This is what they're supposed to look like:

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt and assume he's oblivious to the fact that it is NOT an Ibanez at all, but I reported it anyway.

I'd hate to see some other unknowing or unsuspecting sap fall for it.

I like it. I really do. The woods look nice and I like compact body shapes, although it might not balance well. The neck looks super warped in the third picture, but that is probably just an illusion with lighting and depth, etc. It looks like it has very easy access to all 24 frets.

I guess, technically, the description isn't wrong; it does have 22 frets. It's like the old, "how many months have 28 days?" trick.

But, who knows what you are gettong in to if it is a complete fake?

I'll go out on a limb and say a removed 24 fret righty neck-through wide core (import, not Carvin) with wings added.
Definitely "homemade".

Looks like an original Ibanez Musician neck (or what's left of it) with a modified headstock shape and some poorly made new body wings attached. Probably a poor righty-to-lefty conversion. The markings of a previous bridge can still be seen, the shape matches that of the bridge that was mounted on Musicians. Given those big pickup routings, it probably used to be one of those, the 1985 model MC924 with two humbuckers:

Um, no. I have a 1979 Ibanez Studio bass, although righty.

Look at the maple neck block on the bass in your picture and compare it to the monstrosity in the Ebay listing.

It's not even the right neck.

It's a kitchen bass... all the way.

I still think it's cool, supposing the build quality is respectable. The listing will probably be terminated since it is not a true Ibanez. If the seller relists it as a basement bass with a huge price cut, I may go for it. :D

I think it is. The blonde bits at both sides of the neck are just what's left of the original (ash) body wings I'm afraid, and the dark bits have been added later. The neck block is just the width of the fingerboard, everything else is part of the body wings. The headstock shape was altered and the heel has been badly modified to a symmetrical shape to improve upper fret access, as the neck originally joined the body at the 17th fret. It really looks like there's still part Musician in there. I've owned three, I know these basses well (look at my avatar) :)

There are 27 people watching this bass on eBay. Is that like rubbernecking a traffic accident?
