First one I've seen listed for sale. Never noticed that the trust rod adjustment was on the headstock on this year.

"Truss". I'm not so sure that's a US instrument. Seller has 0 feedback, and has a random stock image posted. Unless there were some odd examples of the truss adjustment being at the headstock, I'm calling shenanigans.

Looks like I stand corrected. Just looked around and saw some MIA basses front that era with headstock truss adjustments.

Fender's cost cutting years just before moving production to Japan. Single ply pickguards, no holes for covers, and Jazz basses had a single one-piece pickguard. Basses were OK but "Stratocasters" were terrible.

just my 0.02 : i owned a almost identical 83 p in the past, nothing remarkable about it, except for the baseball bat neck. soundwise it was nothing more than a classic american standard.
