Man, if I had money to burn. . . This is exactly like my '73 P, and I can say without exaggeration that it's the best sounding bass I've ever had, and for those who know me, I've had about 150 pass through my hands.

Fender made a good number of P-Basses in '73, and I think that most of them were made using lightweight wood. Mine weighs no more than 8.5 lb, and I had another before that was equally light.

$2300 is really pushing the price, but this is the ultimate P-Bass for us lefties in my opinion, besides finding a pre-CBS. And the A neck (Jazz width) is the icing on the cake. These are a bit thick, like a typical P-Bass neck from that era, but with a Jazz width nut, and usually a one-piece maple. Very comfortable.

If you were ever looking for a '70s P bass but were put off by the wide necks and usually heavy weight, this is it!

Sorry for this gas-inducing post. . .

Thanks for the heads up NoXX!

I've been looking for this bass for a looooong time. My favorite Fender color in a Jazz neck! :o

I just had a good conversation with the seller; looks like he might be willing to ship to me in San Jose, CA. :)

[fingers crossed]

I second all that has been said. Buy this bass. As a 2nd owner of a sunburst 73 P with the same 1.5" width maple neck this is the greatest P I have played....granted I've never played an early 60s or 50s one but being a jazz bass guy for decades this just felt and sounded right. Good weight - can do a 4 hour hit and with the Jamerson La Bellas it is THAT sound. And it ain't just my ears...everybody says it. Go get it!!!!!

Nice Geoff... I would like to see this one and compare a few things to my '73 when you get it.

Nice score, man.

Sure thing. I'll let you know when I get it.

(And of course I'll post some good pics here in the gallery)

And thanks again to NoXX for the heads up.

Excellent! I am glad the long-distance Craigslist deal worked out for you! I also took a gamble on a long-distance Craigslist deal that paid off. (Thanks to Yolly!)

It reminds me that most people really are good people who just want to live their lives and are not out to scam anyone.

Well I haven't received anything just yet. :?

:D

The seller and I talked a lot on the phone and got a good sense of each other. That really helped establish some trust and confidence.
