Just tried DRs last night for the first time. Not blown away by the feel.

DR Nickels - especially Sunbeams.

Which ones, and what do you normally use?

D'Addario. I've only tried one set of DR's, the ones with the coating on them. Didn't like them at all.

Neither for me anymore, as I'm happy with Elixirs, but I did play D'Addario XL165s for years and still like them.

DRs by far. But I am not a brand loyalist. I have 2 basses that have D'Addarios on them. One is strung piccolo and I think the D'Addarios are good for that one. The other is my 5 string that has XLs and I'm not too happy with them so the 'string quest' will continue.

I am a beliver that each bass has a certain type string that brings out its particular "voice" to the fullest. I tend to go through several Brands/types of strings with a new bass until I find "the one" and then I stay with it. With 9 basses I wish I could be satisfied with some budget string for all of them....oh well.

+1. My experience especially with flats. I like D'Addario Chromes on my J, Labella Jamersons on my P, and TIs on my Tele bass. :)

Big fan of the D'Addario Half wounds, by far my favorite string, long life, with a ground outer wrap, they don't pick up gunge like round wounds yet still have some zing unlike full chromes.
