Ha, I don't even check the classifies on TalkBass anymore because I assumed all the lefties on that site would just rather post here.

But as this case is of "a righty selling a lefty", I can see why he wouldn't know. I guess I shouldn't have stopped checking due to situations like this.

Wow!
I really wish I wasn't broke right now (how come that always happens?).

I recently picked up a newer used SB2.( 6 bolt, black on black, rosewood board 1 /12' nut w/ 12" radius). It's the first G&L I've owned since I bought a new L1000 in 1980. I'm still in the honeymoon phase but I've got to say I'm very impressed with the build quality of it. Only played it on one gig so far, and once I figured out how to get a good tone using the 2 volume only controls it sounds really good. Very hot pickups but the aggressive tone can be tamed. It's the only passive bass I ever had to use the -14 db button on my GK amp. The satin finished neck feels and plays great. Very impressive.

That is nice :) So Jersey Blues - what were the specs on your 1980 L1000? I have an '81 1K fretless and an '83 fretted 1K - awesome basses.

Ha, that's mine! I've been traveling a lot and a friend was kind enough to list it for me on that forum (of which I'm not a member).

I originally posted pics of the bass when I got it, here on this forum. I don't have any issues with this bass, but after a few months I went right back to playing my converted '62 reissue p bass. It's a shame it's not getting used at all, and I don't need it, so I'm unloading it.

The 1980 L1000 was metallic red with an ebony board. I ordered it new from Sam Ash on 48th St. in NYC. Waited about 6 weeks for delivery. When it arrived I went to pick it up,opened the case at Sam Ash and the neck was FRETLESS. (Not what I ordered). G&L shipped a fretted neck to Sam Ash in about 2 weeks and it was installed at the store. Great bass . Kept it for about 4 years and ended up trading it for a mid 70's P Bass. I spoke with the guy at Rocket about the sunburst lefty L 1000 he has in stock. He isn't accepting trades right now but quoted me a good price of $1250. shipped with case if anyone is interested.

I be kickin' my butt right now. Just bought a subwoofer for my band's P.A. and it used up all my available funds, otherwise I'd be all over this. DAMMIT!!!

Thanks Jersey - ah if you only still had the '80 1K with 2 necks. That is a good price on the one at Rocket - Greg is great to do business with.

I wish G&L didn't "improve" the headstock or I would be interested. I just can't get beyond it. I wish I never sold my 1983.
I am never selling any bass ever again....
