I've always really liked those spalted purpleheart boards. Don't really know why other than I think it looks cool. Roscoe sure had a lot of that wood.

Is it really spalted, or is it sap wood or core wood they didn't want to waste?

Yeah, I know, it certainly doesn't look like the way spalted maple looks, a lot more black veins in that. But having had one before... and seeing the price and talking to Gard before, they call it "spalted" purpleheart with sap wood. So you're partly right Jeroen. Here's a capture from the price list.

Well, at least Gard/Keith dropped the price for Ebony from $1,000 to $600. They raised the price to 1k because they didn't like working with ebony. It cracks too often. :shock:

ebony is super tight & dense, so that makes sense.
