Is the OBP3 the standard preamp for these basses?

nope.
TonePump or EMG are what I've seen in the past. Mine has an EMG.

Hmm. Alright. I've heard these things are incredible studio basses. I've tried several and loved them all... This doesn't help my chronic GAS :D

Hah, I'd love to join you in Spector bass ownership but my gear money is all tied up in a new cab right now.

I will say if I ever do own a Spector, I hope it comes from Jim.

Thanks Andrew. Well, at least you will know it will be a "good" one. ;) I just bought a house so you never know but the first one on the chopping block would be this Black EURO 4LX since I never play it but what a hell of a badass bass. Its a good one... just missing a string.

How different is the Aguilar pre from the stock Spector preamp in the USA basses? I feel like I'd want to add the proprietary USA Spector preamp to get the old school Spector tone.

+1. I'd like to know as well. I personally don't have any issues with the stock preamps on Spectors, but I know a lot of guys like to rio them out for whatever reason.

Only use two spectors in my so far, short, life; loved the sound of the Spector preamp. But curious to know as well.

Hi guys, I know a couple of you have serious interest in this bass. Its still not getting played and I have my eye on something. If I decide to purchase it, this guy will be up for sale. The original $1200 price was over a year ago. Spector has raised their prices twice since this bass was purchased. I need to really think on my price scheme before letting this go.

As players sometimes say, there are good, bad and ok basses. This bass is a "GOOD" one. Definitely one in the good batch from Czech republic.

I thought the point of the sudden change in supply/demand dynamics is that they are not taking orders for Euro lefties anymore?

Nope not true. I've emailed PJ as recently as a week ago, orders ARE being taken on Euros. As far as the price, well I get that but at the samw rims the half price resale value on Spector's is a joke

I purchased this bass from Graves, and I'm very happy I did. He was not exaggerating when he said it is a great bass with a huge voice. It is also immaculate. Just clean, clean, clean.
I recommend Gravesbass as a seller to anyone looking at one of his basses on the sale block. He made sure the bass was working 100%, shipped fast and was on top of communication throughout.

In the band mix this bass is naturally crazy aggressive and dialling in how up front or deep into the mix it sits is so easy. Really an excellent bass for heavy music. LOVE the Spector growl.

I still love my Fender and Fender inspired basses but I am truly a newly minted Spector worshipper. Just awesome basses.
