I've seen that one go around eBay a few times. Pretty cool and high quality. It's a shame that it's been modified. Reminds me or Carlos Cavazo in the '80s. . . (Quiet Riot's guitar player). I think it's one of the nicer takes on the Explorer body shape. The price is ridiculous, BTW.

Neck appears to be fretless.
Back in the mid-80's that (or its exact twin) hung in a Greensboro, NC pawnshop forever. Considered it a few times but cannot remember why I wouldn't buy it...

Yes, looks like it felt victim to that "late-seventies-lazy-afternoon-with-pliers-in-hand-and-nothing-better-to-do-than-to-defret-bass" phenomenon.

This is uncanny! Last night i was on TalkBass and saw a Washburn Appreciation Club. I chimed in that I only own 1 Washburn - A 1983 B20, prefacing my post that I have never seen another lefty. Then this one pops up! :o

I wonder if my post got somebody to unload their own? Anyway, here's mine. I wasn't crazy about the tones, until I threw a set of flats on it. The P bass PUP now has one of the best old school P sounds I have:

The cool factor on this bass is through the roof insane. I want it, bad. $600 seems pretty high though (I mean, Washburn?) so I made an offer. Here's hoping we can work out a deal! Been wanting a fretless real bad and there's nothing I love more than a quirky, rare bird.

Washburn is actually one of America's oldest guitar companies, started in 1883, and they still have a US custom shop that makes excellent stuff.
I think, like BC Rich, they hurt their reputation with a lot of those pointy 80's hair band designs and a move to the Asian market. But this bass is an excellent quality instrument.

Good luck with your bid!

Thanks for the info PJ. I assume you are happy with the way the thing plays?

It makes it so hard to control myself when I know it's unlikely I'll ever get the opportunity to pick one of these up ever again :x
