Hi all. I am chopper or you can call me Lee (actual nickname and real name offline)
I am not new to music but am new to being serious about learning bass finally. I would say I am an intermediate player with above beginner/below intermediate skills, if you can understand that lol.
I found leftybassist.com while looking for a new left handed bass to buy rather than play a righty flipped or an entry level bass, and am working on getting the MTD kz from pjmuck.
so hello and I look forward to getting to know everone.

Nice! There's nothing like a well-made bass guitar to motivate you! Enjoy your new bass!

thank you pjmuck, I would love to have a couple of items in your collection, but the 2 items are not for sale ( Charvel and Gibson). I may have to quietly stalk you until you decide to at least sell the Charvel
That may be the first lefty Charvel with that logo on the head stock I have ever seen.

Hi everyone. Its awesome to find a place to talk shop! I'm not great with the whole bio thing, but here is a brief one on the lefty bass side of things at least:

I've been playing bass off and on since 1999 after starting on guitar a few years prior to that. I had a chance to pick up a rock cover band gig with some buddies in college and did a two week crash course on bass to get ready. I started out with a lefty MIM Fender Standard Jazz and it served me well. Man, it was fun playing some GNR tunes...I think I learned a lot about locking in with the drummer through that process even though it wasn't clear to me at the time.

Not all that later in life, I got involved with Sunday services and have been in a couple of steady bass and guitar positions over the years. I went through a phase with a Warwick 5-string (thumb BO) and eventually moved that one on eBay. The neck dive was finally bothering me to the point I needed to make a change.

My current bass is a Yamaha BB404 that I got on Musician's Friend when they were closing them out for $189. I put some Dimarzio Area J pickups in it and that made it a really decent bass. Guess what? That bass is all black with a matching black headstock made especially for a lefty (lol). I had full intention to get another "nice" bass, but I kept using the Yamaha and just never felt the need until lately. I'm thinking about a MIA P-bass or Stingray 4.

Hope everyone is doing well and look forward to keeping up with you folks!

"Hello"

I've been here a while, but haven't posted here before, so now's a good time.

Been on this forum to search for a nice lefty bass, wanting to upgrade from my prior Fenders ('01 MIM Jazz, '96 Squier Precision). I did find one and upgraded to a green Sadowsky P/J. Totally love that bass with its reversed headstock. Recently I started using flatwounds and an Ampeg B200R. That combo makes the sounds I want (vintage on steroids) :)

Anyway, with this stuff I'm entering a Jazz-music-course (pre-conservatory) this september (2014), wanting to learn to play the bass (duh), but also learn how to improvise, make music, meet people and all the rest (solfege). Currently I'm in two little bands, one is a coverband (pop/rock) and the second is a make/write-our-own-music-band (where I obviously am the rookie).

Furthermore, I'm 32 years old, started too late with bass (but then again, better late than never) Amsterdam is my hometown and discovered Led Zeppelin last week (the 2014 remasters are great). Also met Jayceofbass when he played a gig in Amsterdam, cool guy! But I feel everybody here is cool. No uptight interwebbers. Nice.

Welcome aboard to both of you guys. This really is an amazing forum to be part of.

AND, it was really great to meet you in Amsterdam Joep! Thanks for coming out and putting a face to the name.

Same ol annoying Xero Tolerance from talkbass. You've probably seen me rave and rant about my love for BC Rih Rico and aria pro basses on there, and replying to any metal or hair band thread on there.

Hello! I was born this way (left-handed) I started playing bass righty in 1970, but ordered a left-handed Fender Precision in 1975. Got it about 10 months later in 1976. Yes, I still have it.

Just kind of stumbled upon leftybassist.com, and apparently I am member 1000, and proud to be here.
