Very nice.. the block inlays are a nice touch... how common were they at the time?

Very. Blocks showed up in the late 60s. I think '68 if I'm not mistaken

Are there replacement tuners on it but comes with the originals? (as per the picasa photos)

Also out of curiosity what does the '1969-171' mean in the thread subject?

thanks!

Bass is dated in neck plate as a january 1971 bass. Neck is evaluated as a 1968 or 1969 neck, as my luthier expertized.

Hello,

As some people asked me more details, I rewrite the add (original post can not be modified). Here is some more information about this bass.

Fender Jazz Bass 1971

I'm selling my old lady, a Fender Jazz Bass, dated from january 1971, as stated by the neck plate.
It's all original, except the bad ass bridge : amazing neck, with no stamp but authentified to be from the 68-69 period (usual for a lefty fender), also with the transition logo. Neck is wearing its original frets.
Body, pickup, electronics, etc. are original. The Bad Ass bridge has been added in mid 70's (I don't have the original bridge).

on the picture, new tuners are figured, but the bass will come with original tuners, as well with the two ashtrays and original mounting screws.

Badass bridge added in mid 70's, I don't have the original bridge.
Doesn't came with case.

This bass has been well played, with a lot of care, and she still has this kind of incredible mojo... Amazing jazz bass sound, confort and sensations...

Good news, serial number is 298xxx, so the bass is officially from 1970, and maybe less considering that's a lefty.

I think there was a special order to get a lefty in that time, true ?
