Anyone who was thinking about picking up one of those Bach lefty non-reverse Thunderbirds, or John Entwistle inspired Fenderbirds should decide quickly. According to the Bach website, they are closing these models out and won't be making any more.

The good news is that they are selling the remaining stock at 50% off, which is 179.78 Euro or 239.85 US dollars. A real bargain, speaking as someone who thought the full price was quite good. Certainly a better deal than those new Gibsons.

Wow. What's the general feeling on these? Are they seriously decent? At this price, I would seriously consider buying one just to keep at the German backline company we use when we are on tour in the EU. It would be way easier than bringing two basses every time because I can't rent a lefty back up.

I thought the regular price was about what it was worth, minus the wire transfer fee (archaic) and the shipping to North America. It's a good looking workhorse that so far hasn't given me any problems. The sale price is more than worth it. My only issue is that it's really heavy and I had to buy a special strap. I'd really love to have one of these, especially the Fenderbird version. I believe that with the transaction and shipping fees and a case (I wouldn't want to have it shipped that far without being in one) brings the price to somewhere in the $400 range. Still not a bad price but unfortunately more than I have on hand at the moment .

These basses have a good reputation and most of the folks who bought them were very pleased with them. The Last Bass Outpost forum has a great deal of info about the BACH NR Thunderbirds and the Fenderbird basses.

BTW it just occurred to me that this is one of those rare times where the lefties get a better price than the righties do

At the same time, it's also a lesson for why music companies and dealers don't carry much in the way of lefty instruments. Bach made a whole bunch of these lefty T-birds, never produced by anyone ever before, and after everyone who might have wanted one got theirs (basically the people on this board), he can't move his remaining stock. So he is forced to sell them off at what's probably cost, or close to it

IMHO my BACH NR TH worths EVERY single cents. It is my main current gigging bass. I don't know if i've been lucky to get a keeper, but at every gig i get strong compliments for my bass sound. The bass sounded good with the stock pickup (a 20$ artec), and it sounds great with a pair of Lollar TB pickups.

Seeing the prices i think i'll get soon a Bachbird. I only hope that the headstock shape is the correct precision one.
