Butterfly in sight :-)

Just want to share some pics of my upcoming 5 string - if everything will work out as planed they will ship the Bass this week right before they'll leave for NAMM

The Bass will be basically a 5 string version of my favorite Jazz Bass

Viceroy body shape (the 4th bass ever made with this shape which is a mix of the Emperor and Monarch shape)

Bolt-On

Ash body

Holly top (I wanted to have some simple but elegant/timeless looking top and I'm not into figured woods anymore - plus I LOVE white basses

)

25 year old Pao Ferro fretboard (Vinny recommended me this wood when we talked about my goal of sound)

Mother of Pearl Block Inlays

34' maple neck

custom spacing at the nut - ( 1 26/32" at the nut while keeping the 19mm at the bridge)

22 frets

Extended B Headstock (I love the shape of the headstock)

Chrome Hardware

Passive - no preamp - only Vol./Tone and Blend chrome pots

Seymour Duncan Vintage Singlecoils in 60ies spacing

+1 for the Pao Ferro. The perfect blend between ebony and rosewood. I have that on my first custom 5.

When I read the thread title, my first thought was:

But that Fodera looks awesome already! I really like that top, it's very plain and simple and yet so elegant. I like the clean look of the instrument, it's not as overly flashy as some other high-end instruments (like Fodera). Lovely bass!

Dude... I have to say, I LOVE your design aesthetic and thought process behind everything.

Very personal and stylish, but also very practical and utilitarian... totally love it man.

I hope you're able to do a couple of videos or sound samples with it... you're a fantastic player, so I'm sure you'll make it sing.

Stunning instrument! Is the headstock unique to this bass or has Fodera used it before? Odd configuration with the tuning pegs.

Yes - they have used this configuration a lot in the past - if I'm honest I don't care if this helps the B or not (some may say yes, some may so no

) but I LOVE the headstock shape - so I had to go with that

The angle of the B string right after the nut is the same like if it would have been wound on the first tuning key (I was a little afraid that it's not) -so it only has a little more tension (I guess LOL) - the B is pretty good anyway

Yes, it's the most sexy headstock shape I've ever seen (after the Fender headstock of course :lol:

Cool yeah I looked at the Fodera site and saw they use this configuration on a couple of their signature models. It would probably take me a while to get used to the 'out of order' tuning process!
