Um, totally unexpected, but I got an email from Jim at Southpaw just now saying that my SG bass shipped from Nashville to him. Um, um... I don't even know what to think. I was prepared to wait up to a year for this and it hasn't even been a month since I put down my deposit. My bass is on its way!! I'll update the forum once I talk to Southpaw. I can't believe this... now I have to scramble to come up with the rest of the money! (Thought for sure I'd have more time to save!)

More to come...

Ok, just talked to Jimmy. It's happening. First SG faded bass out of Gibson on his way to him for set-up and eventual shipping to me. I really thought this would take months. Jimmy said Gibson is making these to order. So it looks like it's all the real deal.

@AustinLeftyBass - have you gotten your call yet on the shiny one?

Wowza!!! I'm still blown away at how fast this turned out to be!!!

He said it would be after Christmas on mine, I figured the regular ones would take longer.

Thanks Jimmy!

Guys, I got the 4003FG in my avatar from Jimmy over 20 years ago. And my 4001CS, and my 340!

I'm a sucker for the burst and black. I know black basses are done to death for lefties but the Midtown and Les Paul bass both look killer in black to me.

Im abit worried about international shipping 2 weeks before Xmas, so i might have to contain myself and ask him to ship after Xmas is done. Just to be on the safer side......

So is Gibson staggering production on these by first releasing SGs then the other models later? Seems only the SGs are coming in now. Anybody order anything other than an SG and been given an ETA yet?

Great to hear they're shipping so quickly. Hopefully my LP will ship as quick. And now I'm seriously considering a cherry or burst midtown...I'm sure Southpaw is loving it, as everyone else appears to be asleep at the wheel!

I just finished reading this post from beginning to end. I didn't realize how much pent up demand for lefty Gibson basses existed in the lefty community. Last Sunday after worship service my grand daughter came up on stage and our guitar player let her hold his Gibson guitar. I happened to have my camera handy. Her look matches some of the anticipation and excitement I have read in the postings. I am looking forward to your reviews and comments once your basses are delivered.

Full discloser - the guitar is a photoshopped righty, although my granddaugter is a lefty!

@ FOM - Nice picture your daughter is very pretty!

@ Jimmy from Southpaw => You got to sell quite a few instruments thanks to all the buzz on this board! Good for you man!
Hopefully, Fender will wake up too and release a few special runs of their cool basses in lefty! We are sick of black/sunburst instruments! I want a Jazz 75 bad.

pretty bad oversight really.
Ive just put a stop to mine being shipped.
I can see how just changing the knob and jack will work ok but that shouldnt be up to me and really quaility control should of picked that up
