That was my immediate reaction when I saw that yesterday.

Even if you weren't sure about the street value, the fluffy write up says it all. The most sought after bass ever made? Please. And I love Jazz Basses!

Basically an MIJ parts bass with a lot of creative verbal embellishment. Can't fault someone for trying, I guess, though it would be nice to find a real deal on ebay again. I guess those days are over.

This is at least the third such instrument this individual has offered on ebay (last year he had a Placid and I believe a blonde). CIJ '62 reissue bodies are usually basswood, not alder, so I'm skeptical in that regard, and the price is absurd! He didn't get $1500 for the other instruments either, he'll settle for less on this one as well. And all that talk of "the most sought after bass of all time" and "rare" crap; does the rest of the world truly think that we lefty bassists are THAT stupid?

As always,
Bart

Would a 'reverse' headstock have made a difference?

Hi All,
I've been a member here for a few months, but haven't really posted much, but I felt like I had to put my 'two-cents worth' on this one.
I actually purchased one of these MIJ Jazz basses this past Summer and I'm quite happy with it.
I was able to negotiate with the buyer for $1000.00 to my door. The bass is, well, a classic 62' reissue Fender J-bass--great tone and I love the separate volume control for each PUP. I've played it out on a couple of gigs and well...she purrs nicely. I do agree that $1200.00 or a BIN of $1500.00 is a bit much, but with my thirty-years of playing the gamut--I own many beauties which I will be posting in the near offing--she was a good buy IMHO for $950.00, plus the shipping.
Peace to All and a thrill to have a site like this one where we lefties can hash it out...

About a year ago I bought a '94 MIJ '62 RI jazz Oly white in pristine condition for $535 shipped. At the time it was the prevailing price, with a few others I was watching going for similar money. Has it changed that much, or is this one much too high?

I just sold my lefty Oly White Jazz MIJ bass last month to a gal in Los Angeles. Mine was a 1989 MIJ with original Fender Lefty Case. $599.00 + Shipping. It was not mint condition but what a player. 1200-1500 with the sale drops going on right now.... Good Luck!! Its pretty but not that pretty. :)

- - - - i really hate to accuse or even suggest any illegalities ,with anyone , especially if they cant defend themseves here , , but i know a person whom bought something very similar "perhaps" from this individual , , and it turned out to be a Rondo SX with the headstock "shaved" or altered into a fender size and style , with fender decal applied , , so ,considering rondo / kurt sells SX basses for under $150 , , seller spent a good afternoon converting it , , , well , SX basses are damn good for the price ,i just think it is HIGHLY dishonest to misrepresent one thing for another , , , , pipps
