No MIJ Antiguas (yet) but a few new colors from the caring people at Fender Japan, unlike their US counterparts! Have a look.
http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/products_l ... model.htmlWill Fender Japan do a maple board on their '75 Jazz bass?
CONFIGURATIONS
Sunburst and vintage white '75 models have a rosewood with pearl blocks fingerboard,
black and natural '75 models have a maple with pearl blocks fingerboard.
PICKUPS / ELECTRONICS
I had a CIJ '75US once, although it was a vintage white one. I believe the correct model name was JB75-105US/LH. The US behind the model name stood for the American pickups it had. Now it's got Japanese pickups. Note that, although it's supposed to be a '75 reissue, the pickups are in the '60s location.
FINISH
The finish on it was quite thin and easily chipped, although it wasn't nitro. The finish, however, was clean and well executed.
WOOD
The body wood is ash on all '75 models.
PARTS
The knobs that come standard are smaller and not as dense as the American parts.
MODS I DID
I did mod it with Hipshot Ultralite tuners, a Bad Ass II bridge and full size knobs. I also removed the pickguard and filled up the holes left with wood and paint. After the installation of the Ultralites, it was a monster. The only bass I regret having sold. If I ever get a chance to buy it back, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you can find an older CIJ US/LH model, don't let it slip without testing it!
