Hello fellow Lefties,

New here, its an honor for me to be here.
Been lurking for a long time here, looking at great basses and nice lefty bass dicussions.

some introduction about me.

Musician from Holland. 33 years old. been playing bass and guitar on and off for 18 years now.
Started out on bass, making expirimental music. Fueled by Sonic youth.
My first lefty bass was/is a Westone thunder I bass.
Played it with a pick, toothbrush and a drill. :D

Then I bought and started playing electric guitar. 2 more strings and a whammy bar! :P

A couple of years ago I found the passion in playing bass again.
4 thick strings and a lots of bottom! Started playing with my fingers instead of a pic.
I really like the magic between 8 or 10 fingers and 4 strings. ''Endless'' possiblilities.
Look at Victor Wooten.

Favourite bass player and sound: Hugh Hopper from Softmachine. :o

Lefty gear I own:
1984 Fender Jazzbass Japan (old smooth bass, Bartolini jazz pickups, badass bridge)
Squier VM Jazzbass (great value for the money!)
1973 Framus Jazzbass (converted righty) (great old German craftmanship, best sounding)
Cheapo Chinees Double-bass (converted righty) (for fun!) :)
Westone Thunder I Bass (Loud PB-pickups, plays great)
1993 Fender Stratocaster Japan
2008 Gibson SG guitar
couple of old cheapo, I wont stay tuned, 100 dollar guitars.

Amps and cabs:
Hartke LH500 (cheap but loud and silent)
Ashdown Mag 4x10 cab (Cheap but loud and Silent)
Old 70's peavey head (loud but noisy)
Old peavey 4x10 cab ( loud but noisy)
Old Rickenbacker bass comboTR 35 B
Ibanez TSA 15 H + 1x15 cab (really nice lil all tube guitar amp)

Pedals:
VT Bass (F*cking great pedal!) :D
Bass Big muff (keeps bottom end)
Exar bass compressor
Boss CS-3 (1 hour of sustain!) :D
Boss bass overdrive
Boss looper RC-20 xl
Art tube preamp (Cheap and GREAT!!)
Some analog delays

Basses I owned but sold again:
2004 Fender USA Jazzbass, no love at first tough. Great sound and looks though!
G&L L2500 USA, Great massive sounding bass, great feeler! Only the 5th, low B string was to much for me.
First need to concur a 4 string bass. But I never should have sold it.

Okay enough talk. Even wonder if someone here will read this essay!
feels good to be here amongst ohter lefty colleague's.
Here some of my humble lefty pics!

Cheers mates!

Thanks everybody!

Jeroen, I saw on Dutch Ebay called Marktplaats that you were selling some nice guitars.
G&l tele and an other one I think.
Saving up for a new bass?? ;)

All the time! :P

No, not really. Just offloading some stuff I don't play anymore. I am by no means a guitarist, and I think it is a terrible waste to have such fantastic instruments just gathering dust in their stands. The G&L is an amazing guitar and it was a tough decision parting with it, but I could use the money and I rarely touch anything other than my basses. The ESP is a different story, I'm not attached to it at all. I didn't really want to sell that either, because it is my only guitar with humbuckers and I'm in a metalband so it is nice to have around me when I'm writing stuff, but I don't really need it.

It is a very difficult time to sell stuff now though! Both guitars have been up on Marktplaats for months now, and I have only had two inquiries about the ESP (both trade offers) and only one for the G&L (from someone who just asked if I still had it, and never got back to me).
