I have wanted a 5 string lefty Modulus so bad it's crazy you just never see them. This one has no truss rod and although true their necks don't move you need to be able to set it up perfectly for you and then yes it won't move but for me no truss no deal. The neck to me is 90% of the bass most of the other stuff can be easily changes. Just my 2 cents. :(

Is it me or is the neck pickup wider than the bridge?

From Modulus' website:
Quote:
Neck Relief Adjustment
Neck relief on Quantum basses is set at the factory to accommodate most playing techniques and string gauges. Though the Quantum composite neck is able to resist many times the tension of a standard set of strings, we have provided a relief adjusting system to allow for personalized setup of your bass. The Modulus system provides for two-way adjustment (over- and under-bow).
Turning the adjuster clockwise will move the center of the fingerboard closer to the strings. Turning the adjuster counter-clockwise will move the center of the fingerboard farther away from the strings. Use the provided hex wrench to make relief adjustments. Access to the truss rod adjuster is through the open hole beyond the highest fret and above the Modulus logo. There is a center “dead” spot you will feel when the system is at its neutral point between overbow and underbow adjusting ranges. We recommend having this adjustment made by an authorized Modulus dealer or qualified repairperson.

Would this system not provide you enough control to adjust it to your liking?

That's a quote about newer Modulus basses because obviously they NEED a truss rod I don't care what it's made of. That's an older model and at that time they did not have a truss rod installed. Read the description in the origianl post it has the specs of that particuler bass listed. Easily confusing since they don't give god info on older models they used to make.

Considering it's not a flame top and is the older model sans truss rod, it's probably a tad high. I'd put it at about $1800.

The other side of the coin is that a guy's gotta make a buck, so I doubt the seller will move on the price that much.
