Hey guys, I had my bass stolen and Wednesday night 11/23/11. In my terms it is the finest instrument i've ever owned, custom made by a Scranton PA local maker Jack Gretz, Very worn Road worthy Jazz Bass Serial #37 that refused to go out of tune, and I'm afraid it is going to be firewood, when the scumbag finds out its a lefty and not a fender. I Kindly ask to keep and eye out. It is a Transparent Orange swamp ash body with rosewood and block inlay, a birdseye maple neck, matching transparent orange headstock, Fender Jazz Copy the maker of the bass is Jack Gretz (hand written on the headstock) and a serial #37 on the back. The bass has a badass bridge, DiMarzio Antiquity Pickups, Sadowsky onboard preamp, and sounds and plays great and i'm pissed. I'm new to this site, but if you guys can kindly keep a lookout that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear Mark, I live in PA too and I will keep an eye out. Pawn shops or Craig's list or local mom and pop music stores are where it will wind up most likely. You described it pretty well I’m not sure if posting pics right now is best other than to police. If the person or people find chatter or pics they will just lay low. Loosers who do this kind of thing are stupid to begin with and most likely need some quick ching for drugs and beer and will be careless. Craig’s list and pawn shops require the least amount of information and it’s hard to directly track down the a-hole. Watch Craig’s list from NY down to FL and peruse the internet constantly after reporting to police.

You never know the guy who had his Roscoe ripped off on Talkbass looks like he is finally getting his bass back. Criminals are stupid man steeling a left hander bass was like taking a Beta tape…sure it’s better but nobody wants one or can use one.

That is about the crappiest thing that can happen on the eve of a holiday. I may be in Arizona, but I'll keep an eye open on my local bulletin boards.

Very sorry to hear that. If there's any consolation to being a lefty, it's that a lefty bass especially with the appointments you describe won't be easy to hide or flip. I'll keep my eyes peeled as well.

That's unique enough that it will be recognizable on the used market. Hope you get your bass back, I know we'll all be keeping an eye out.
