Same here. I watched part of the memorial on TV yesterday, and a documentary. Those images of the planes hitting the towers and the towers collapsing still remain as impressive and haunting as 10 years ago. The impact of what happened on that day can still be felt today the world over.

I never mentioned this before on this site for not wanting to freak people out, but my then-group Gaijin A Go-Go was one of the house bands at the bar on top of the WTC, which was called "The Greatest Bar On Earth." We were sort of a cross-between Pizzicato 5 and the B-52s. I played there many times, the last of which was late July 2001. Fortunately everyone I knew at the bar except for the two bathroom attendants were not in the building on Sept 11 as they wouldn't have come to work until 3PM that day. The bathroom people - immigrants from Ghana - died however.

The fact that it's been 10 YEARS since 9/11 is almost as surreal to me as the day itself. Unbelievable, and watching some of the anniversary specials just churned up all those emotions I had like it was yesterday. I was in the city that day, late for work as usual, taking the F from Brooklyn over the bridge/East River with a clear view of two large fiery, smoky holes in the sides of the Twin Towers already. Hmm, that's strange. Get to work at Rockafellar Center and it's complete pandemonium as stories are coming in (Most true, some false, i.e. The White House Mall's on fire), later finding myself walking the streets downtown passed people covered in soot in an effort to meet up with my wife on 23rd st. By the time I meet up with her, she tells me she just watched the 2nd tower collapse. It truly felt like the end of the world. On Sunday, 9/9/01 prior to the events, my wife and I rode our bikes from Brooklyn to the World Trade Center and grabbed some lunch and sat by the fountain sphere under the towers.

I knew a few people who were lost. Graduated high school with one of them. I'll never forget.

The weird thing for me about this tragic event is that my bass rig was around there when that happened because there was a big event that I did rehearsed in Montreal for the Quebec/New York trade show that was supposed to be presented few days later right there. There were some people from the production crew of Quebec that saw the whole event from their hotel rooms. I was supposed to be there the next day to perform at WTC a day or so later.

What is your thoughts about this? Is it a conspiracy from the US government? From outside it really looks suspicious.

Well from watching Michael Moore's 9/11 movie there is so much going on between the Bush family and the Laden family and so on. The implosion of the towers that just looked like when a building is demolished with dynamite and all the people working in the towers that got called to not go to work or not taking their flights. It is kind of disturbing when you put all the pieces together.

The reason I say that is that the medias are ruled to a certain degree by government and the fact I'm outside of the US, we get some views from Europe and Canada which are less controlled and more open.

While I definitely think there are still some questionable/ethical actions taken before/during, and after the event that we've yet to get a full story on (i.e. Bin Laden family privately flown out of the country immediately afterwards, WMD falsified evidence, etc), I think the majority of the conspiracy theories are bogus.

There's nothing about those towers falling that looks like a controlled demolition. You want to explain how demolition crews can wire office buildings where thousands of people work every day without anybody knowing what's going on? Do you understand how many people would have to be complicit in that to keep it quiet? Absolutely impossible.
The government is inept and crooked here, but in on the attacks? Hell no. All this conspiracy shit is ridiculous. And citing Michael Moore films? Come on. I really liked Fahrenheit 911 but it's satire.
And as far as I recall, Moore leaves out the fact that Osama bin Laden had been disowned by much of his family here.
As much as I detest George W. Bush, I don't believe there is some nefarious connection there. He was an oil guy and the bin Laden family had a lot of business connections here.

Clear, and well said. Simply put, the intense heat generated by the jet-fuel fires weakened and melted the building's iron skeleton, which was designed in such a way that the top of the building acted like a giant weight that fell straight down, collapsing the floors upon themselves as it did do. There are several well done documentaries showing that the way the building was designed, was it's ultimate Achilles heal. No government plot, just a building design never built to survive this kind of catastrophe to it's infrastructure. Had the planes hit far lower, the towers would most certainly have fallen over like felling a tree, which would have been incredibly worse.

I still have a very hard time watching replays of the jets hitting the towers, and seeing the explosions, flying glass and shrapnel. It's almost like watching a family member's gruesome murder again and again... I am very angry at the small group of cowards who believe in killing innocent people in the name of their God. People who's only "crime" is to want to live, work, and better themselves and their families in the United States. Or for that matter, targeting people in their own countries, who are trying to raise themselves up. It just doesn't make sense; it's just a savage mentality.

My heart and thoughts go out to all of the people, and families who have been affected by the acts of cowardice perpetrated on 9-11-2001.
