Isn't it 1992?
1982 does not seem right. It was the begining of the 6 string bass, Anthony Jackson and a handful of other guys were still developing the concept. I am not sure Michael Tabias had started making 6 string basses at that time. From the design to the hardware, everything looks like a bass made in the 90's or later.
I might be wrong though.

If you read the history of the brand it does not concur either

For some reason, that wood choice really reminds me of an Alembic. Maybe it's the swirly nature of the top wood? Did Mr. Tobias ever have an affiliation with the folks from Alembic?

'82 or '92, she's still a beaut! Funny, this must be the second time in recent months that bass has come up on the market as I have pics of it already from somewhere else. Not a fan of the old Wilkinson bridge.... bit of a hand slicer...

No, I think you're right. Good catch... I didn't even put two-and-two together on that!

I have a picture of this bass somewhere. It was strung righty. If you look at the bone nut, it looks like it possibly was reversed from righty (see taper side). If so, this always worries me a little if it was strung reverse for a long period of time and sat idle. Wood does funny things with time and tension. Either way, very pretty bass. The Amp Shop is a pretty respectable seller too.
