This looks like a gorgeous bass. Birdseye maple board as well. This might be worth picking up and throwing some better electronics into. Maybe some Barts and take your pick of preamps.

Things that make you go hmmmmm... who's up for it?

Too bad they didn't order the no-show neck option. If it wasn't for the neck going through that top wood it would be absolutely stunning!

+1!

And I don't really like the look of a maple fingerboard on a stained neck, looks awkward to me. I would have liked it a whole lot better with a nice dark slab of ebony on it.

OK, I agree, it WOULD be much better with the no show neck option, and an ebony or rosewood board would have been better as well.

I used to dream about a butterscotch blond AAAA quilt top an a Lakland.

Nowadays I think it looks like a big piece of soap :(

... however the more I look at it, it makes me realize it's not that bad actually :P

I tried one from the in-stock page that looked virtually identical to this, but it had a detuner on the B-string. I have to say I kinda dug the painted neck with the maple board. . .

The quilting on the bass listed looks sick, I think in part because of the flash. It doesn't look that impressive in person. And I hate how Carvin applies those translucent colors over 5-piece necks, because the maple pieces in the neck take on the dye differently, and they look really bad. The one fault I find in the Carvin ordering system is that the guys taking the orders are not proactive and coach people to make sure they are ordering a bass that makes sense, for example, telling the guy who ordered this bass that a no-show neck would look much better.
