There are some righties with roasted maple FB's that have been made, but it's not officially an option as of yet.

They look KILLER.

I was literally |this| close to buying a roasted SR5, but I want to wait for a maple FB myself.

I think those are just fancy Stingray's. Unlike the "classic" collection which is supposed to be reminiscent of the pre-EB era.

Well the finish and pickguard look trashed.

The pickguard still has the plastic protective film on it and the finish is called black sugar... it's like a deep black with large reflective crystals in it.

No relic there... I've seen other photos and the whole package looks like pure unadulterated sex.

It looks even better with a roasted maple FB and the black sugar finish... *drool*

I thought that finish was called "Black with pocket lint and toe nails"

it's actually a vulcanizing type of process performed on the wood prior to construction. several lumber companies offer a similar kind of product. here's one for reference

this process permanently darkens the wood all the way thru the board, while also jacking the raw material cost 2x - 5x depending on the quantities purchased and the quality of the wood.

it is a real thing or simply marketing a new fad? IMO (and numerours other high-end luthiers) it's still too early to tell. I think we'll know what the jury decides with respect to all the stability claims in about another 5-10 years

If EBMM would ever fix that dead/quiet G string issue, I'd be totally on board for this bass.

I agree, the low "G" issue is my only grieveance with my Stingray. It is less of an issue with the 2 band preamp but unfortunately not available for us lefties.

Two ways I found to mitigate it: Don't scoop the mids too much - Use DR High Beam strings
