Yeah probably one of those mongrel types with parts from different years, as that was common back then.

Does it have the 70's Jazz Bass pickup configuration with the bridge pickup closer to the bridge? Looks like it.

It probably won't sell at this price but it is nice to see a maple neck on a Jazz Bass. I always prefer the sound of a Jazz Bass with a maple neck.

That's the same combo as my '76 (which will soon see a refinish in trans blond).

My guitar tech (jockingly) says that when you pop a string on a Rosewood Jazz Bass it sounds like "cling" and when you do the same on a maple neck Jazz Bass it sounds like "ping". Well, I like the "ping".
Besides being brighter, the maple neck Jazz seem the have more bottom.

Yikes... check out how out of alignment the strings are on the fingerboard.

Can't tell if the bridge is off or if the neck is effed up or what... but the strings look like they're ready to fall off the treble side of the fingerboard.

Yeah, that's par for the course with a fender's QC in the 70's. It's amazing how often you encounter that once you're looking for it. The bass is strung reverse, however, which probably isn't helping the misalignment, and I don't see a route in the lower horn for a righty so this appears to be a lefty's unorthodox setup. I'll bet it weighs a ton too.

as i see, it's a rather common thing in late 70s, early 80s fenders ... maybe it's due to the poor coupling between the old stock neck (the S8 and S9 serials) and new production bodies .... my 78 P (seeing the pick up date he was actually an 80) had the same problem, but you just need to detach the neck and adjust it on the neck pocket ...

Yet another exorbitant shipping price - $189.19... where do the sellers get these amounts from? No info about where the seller is shipping from.....

I agree - even to Hawaii, normal shipping fees (through the US Post Office) run about $45-$60. If the shipper creates an over-sized box, and ships through UPS or Fedex, with insurance, the fees can easily go to $100 or so, but $189 to $200 (from another seller, who didn't sell his bass) is a real stretch, and just smacks of additional profit margins. It borders on being a scam, and I hope buyers don't fall for it. Living in Hawaii, I've learned to look at the price first, and the shipping fee second. If it's a bit high, I'll ask the seller if he's willing to ship USPS to me, which will usually keep my shipping cost to a reasonable amount.
