Dave's Guitars strikes again. A great shop to deal with. I've gotten both of my Ric's from them (when lefty's were readily avaialable).

I coulda swore the headstock said Renenerate

Sometimes I don't know whether to love or hate this board.

Christ, there are some beautiful basses here. Which I never seem to have the cash for. :|

it is the best and worst of times for us lefties.

The best because our selection of basses has never been better.

The worst because most of us are broke all the time. I could easily have spent $5K a week on gear this year.

I spent considerable time designing a headstock that captured the vibe of the 50's Tele P's and still was different enough to avoid the 'friendly' C&D letter from the Fender lawyer boys

a couple other differences

- Fender has the skunk stripe neck to fill the trussrod route and I install the trussrod under the fretboard
- Fender utilizes a two saddle system that forces you to find the 'compromise zone' between the intonation for a given string pairing and I utilize a Wilkinson adjustable saddle that swivels to allow precise intonation for each string

and after following that link I think I need to seriously rethink my pricing strategy for my Heritage Tribute model line for 2011 :o

all the best,

R

No need to feel too bad Matt. Fender CS isn't always a panacea. As I've recounted before on this board, I bought a 1993 CS slab-board Jazz used in 2001. It had been well-played, but nothing crazy. Certainly no more scars than it should have for its age. It turned out to be quite the lemon. In short order:

- the neck died; I even had the truss-rod replaced, something I didn't even know you could do, and it only bought me another year or so and was maxed out all the time
- the volume pot shorted out and had to be replaced
- 6 months later the exact same thing happened to the tone control

All of this occurred with steady 4X a week usage, but nothing out of the ordinary. No traveling, I took care of it, stored it well etc. It was just one of those things. Sometimes you just buy a lemon. Even Fender CS has them from time to time if that makes you feel better ;)

It's lightweight body became the nucleus of a Frankenbass btw. Only the body and hardware are left from the original instrument. I'll say one thing for the CS, they love making light basses and that's great!

My fave RGW headstock. I've always loved the look of Billy Sheehan's "wife" bass, and when I was a kid there was an ad that ran in a few issues of BP mag that I don't even recall the brand or artist in the ad, but they had a modern style P-bass with a '51 P style neck on it. Since then I've loved the look of the '51 style headstock on newer P and J bodies.

It is beautiful, but I think for the money, I'd contact Rod and have a Regenerate made.
