I've always wanted to try 8 and 12 string basses but I think I'd need to start with an 8 and work my way to a 12. Still, I dig the look of the Waterstone basses.
In the early 80s I got a Hondo 8-string, then moved up to a 60s Hagstrom 8, then in 1987(?) I got my first Hamer B12S, a black one. It became my main bass with the 3-piece I was in, with my Ric 4001CS as a rarely-used backup. I then got another Hamer B12S in "Salmon Blush", I liked the neck on it better so the black 12 became its backup. I spent most of the rest of the 90s playing these two 12-strings. Sold the black one after that band broke up but I still have the second one. Back then 12s were VERY rare, they used to have small crowds staring at them on the side of the stage before a show.
