This is the desirable era for the Japanese Fenders denoted by the letter E at the beginning of the serial number. Olympic White with a torte guard. Very rare for a lefty! Bass was built around 1984 in Japan and is just wonderful. She’s a true “Closet Classic” with zero wear, damage, scuffs or scratches. All original and comes with an era correct hard case which I assume is the original. Neck feels great and not sticky or too thin. Nice thick slab of dark rosewood and frets are as new. Notice there are no ugly routes under the pick guard! You don’t find that often, even on a US Jazz! Selling for $900 Canadian plus shipping From British Columbia, Canada with the hard case. Would like to keep this a Canadian sale if possible. I can’t seem to post pics anymore but here is a link to my Craigslist add:

The "JV" series is the most desirable. It was the first.

E was next. I had one. Great bass. Great neck, like you said.

What is the body wood?

SQ was next, then the E-series. The JV were true historic 1950s and 1960s reissues, and had all USA-made hardware and electronics. The SQ series were more 1970s reissues and had some Japanese parts. The E-series was the first fully Japanese series of instruments. I have an E-series Squier Strat that has been my main guitar for the last 15 years.

I’m assuming this bass has an alder body. It’s light and resonant. I keep second guessing why I would sell this one but I’m just not a Jazz Bass guy and mostly play 5vers. I’ve owned more then a few USA Jazz basses though and had a 90’s Japanese reissue, but this one has something going on over the others I’ve had. She’s a beaut.
