Hi guys (do we have any gals on this site?),

I have a pair of Ricks that I love, but I just don't play them over my 4001V63, so I might as well see if anyone is interested. My mind tells me to do this, my heart says, "why? No!"

This is a 1986 Midnight Blue 4003. This bass is a fantastic player. The neck is thin and the string spacing feels great. This is the farthest thing from the "Rick baseball bat neck" that some are rumored to have. No bridge lift, either. RIC had added the two extra bridge screws by this point. It has some paint missing behind some of the tuning keys. I am not sure how this happened. I will get better pictures of this when I can. Also, part of the plastic on the bridge pickup looks a little melted, perhaps coming to contact with a soldering iron. I am not sure about that, as everything seems to be stock. Other than that, it is in great shape, and has a treble bezel. $1800

Up next we have a 1987 4003SPC Tuxedo. This is supposedly the only lefty of its kind. The white has faded some over the years. I replaced the stock mono jack with a stereo jack. The mono jack is included. This one plays great as well, but could use a truss rod adjustment. Because the truss rod nuts , I was worried that there was a problem with the rods, so I purchased a set of rods from Pick of the Ricks. But, I took it to a tech and he was able to do some adjustment without replacing them. Regardless, the set of new rods will be included. $2200

As always, all thoughts, questions and comments are welcome.

I love that shade of blue. It might not be the most classic Rick color, but holy smokes.

Thanks, Tim! Yeah, it looks especially good with the black hardware, I think.

I still own it, but Inhabe taken it off of the market. It plays like a dream and sounds like a Rick. It can never hurt to have a second Rick lying around!

Hey, Tim!
