Post subject: | Eastwood Saturn IV Bass |
Hello All, This is my first post. I'm looking at buying the Eastwood Saturn IV bass and was wondering if any one has an direct experience with them? They look good and for the money and there's no other lefty out there that has the semi-hollow thing going. Mostly I'm hoping to get info on: *Fit and finish. *Playability, the nut is narrow and the neck seems quite small. * Sound, the one neck pup seems limiting. I saw one for sale here a few months ago and was wondering if the seller could offer his feedback. Thanks in advance for any help. |

A couple of us here have had them. Killer bass, especially for the cash. Thin neck that takes a little getting used to, but really fun to play and definitely nails the tubby British Invasion sound. Quality was excellent, as was overall fit & finish. |

Matt, Thanks for the reply! Two questions, you say "we had them" why did you get rid of them? Also if you had the choice would you choose the Saturn IV or the Danelectro Longhorn? |

I sold mine to finance another bass. The only reason I decided to get rid of the Saturn is that I have a really nice Euroburst Höfner, so the Saturn was redundant in a way. My getting rid of it was no reflection on the quality or how much I liked it. As for the longhorn, I haven't played one but yeah, I'd probably choose the Saturn. There's a thread on here somewhere about the Dano, and the impressions/reviews of others cured any curiosity about the Longhorn that I once had. Welcome to the board by the way. |

Good to hear, and thanks for the "welcome". I've been a guitar player most of my life and this will be my first bass, so starting from scratch, I don't see getting used to the neck like too much of an issue. Recently saw a youtube video from Eastwood on the Saturn IV and the fit and finish looked top notch and the rosewood fretboard was killer. I know there aren't a lot of sound choices to be had, but for the music I'm playing I think it will work. Thanks again for the great info. |

No problem. Yeah, a short scale bass would be a great transition from guitar, I imagine. |
