I called Dan a while back and he said all models would be available lefty on the Korean line. Haven't contacted him about the new USA models but I would think they would be available in lefty versions too. He also told me there was no upcharge for lefties on the Korean made basses, so let's hope that holds for the USA models as well.

Bill Woolery @ HipShot had one (righty) at his booth at NAMM. I give it a thumbs up. Great quality and I actually likes the thicker headstock. This might help with the notorious random Fender dead spots.

Talked to Jimmy at Southpaw Guitars about a guitar yesterday, and during the conversation he mentioned that he was selling Lakin basses, and that he had a shoreline gold P bass with blocks for around 1300 or so. Might be worth checking out.

I spoke with Jimmy at Southpaw, he noted the Gold Dan Lakin bass on his web page was on consignment and sent it back to Dan. Jimmy said it's a great bass and he is a dealer for them. I then called Dan Lakin and he still had this one in stock (so I got it!).

I ordered it today and it ships tomorrow, I will let you know how it plays. Dan noted that he is going to go with Lefty's in his Korean line and would consider special orders for US. For my price points and wanting a blocked J bass this was perfect.

All,

I received the Lakin Bass earlier this week and I wanted to follow up on this bass as it is amazing! For those not aware Dan Lakin was the co-founder of Lakeland Basses after a 3 year non-compete clause he is back in the bass business. I originally wanted a Fender Jazz with Rosewood Neck with White Pearloid Blocks and Binding (there is a great Fender Japan bass on this board for sale), however I wanted some unique colors and wanted something new. My choices were Fender ADE (design Experience), Valenti, Lull and Lakin. When I seen the add on Southpaw I knew that was the one I wanted. Jimmy at Southpaw said they were amazing basses but the one he listed was on Consignment and sent it back to Dan Lakin, I phoned Dan, made the purchase and he shipped it out. I have twenty something basses and this one is in the top 5. I really stink at providing reviews but here is some info that sealed the deal for me and lastly outside of quality the price is really great. Prices from Lull and Valenti were fair but high, Fender American Design had just as many positive as negative reviews so I was worried that I would not know what I was getting when I ordered with Fender. To top is all off the SN of this bass is JOC (Joe Osborn Custom)0002 so I believe I have the second unit out of production. The basses are made out of Korea but are great basses. Lakeland does not offer their Korean line in Left-Handed only the US versions are available for around $3-4K.

Check out these links and if your in the market this is a great bass, plays great, US electronics/HW many colors for Lefties. In 6 months I may get one of their P Basses.

Great sound

This video is "DR/Fat Beams" on Precision in G&L LB-100 at the front more than 0'36" of this video.
I was also attracted by tones of LB-100, so I think I want to hear the sound which stuck Fat Beams on "Bob Glaub".
