Gonna take a little while to pay for it but since I couldn't find a used one I had to get the new one.

BOOSH AND/OR KAKAOW!!

Not really my cup o' tea but I can totally appreciate the beauty. And uh, I get to Hamilton all the time so..... you know..... if you need someone to..... you know..... make sure it's all up to snuff...... before they ship it out...... you know..... Haha!

George builds a smokin' fretless bass. I had it's near twin a few years back. These are very musical.

A lot of dough for a bass but it's a good one... just keep the ebony fingerboard oiled so it doesn't crack.

Thank you for saving me 5 grand. I was THIS CLOSE to pulling the trigger on it, but apparently you beat me to the punch by about an hour.

Congrats!!!!

@graves: yes, I had your ex twin, remember? In fact, this will be my third BNF5 so I have an excellent idea what I'm getting. This one I intend to keep. The others fall firmly into the category of basses I wish I had never sold.

@azwhofan: it was you was it? Marcel told me somebody else was interested. I'm surprised there aren't more. Well, I have a nice little Pedulla Buzz for sale at considerably less than $5k. Although, if I could afford to I would keep it. But, like I said, I gotta come up with the scratch to finish paying for this.

Oh, and by the way, I'd like to thank Chris Addison for telling me about this. I nearly fell over when I saw it. ;)

Here's another pic with their new Gunmetal Blue strap that I'm getting with it.

@frenchy-lefty: Alain Caron is one of my fave bass players. I've seen him play many times with UZEB back in the day. With many interesting F Basses... always at least one interfaced with a Roland synth.

By the way, I noticed from the specs that she's a tad heavy at 10 lbs 7 ounces. I brought this up with Marcel before I pulled the trigger. He told me they try and avoid making basses that are too light because they find, in their experience, which is building a hell of a lot of fine basses, that you get more punch out of a slightly heavier bass. I'm not too worried about that weight as this is easily the most ergonomically designed bass I've ever played. And their new strap design is slightly wider and more padded, making the bass even more comfortable.

Sly, Marcel told me they are bringing a fretted lefty BN-5 to NAMM this year. Wouldn't you rather be in California in January than Montreal? ;)

@Sly: this transparent white BN5 is still up on Arni's site. I believe it belongs to Oskar Rosza. He bought my last BNF5, the blue one with lines. Unless he sold it Jozef Gaus, as the pic name implies.

@ andrew: I love the tone too. One thing I think we have to remember about F Bass, is that George, like so many builders, was always inspired by Fender... and that an F Bass, by its very nature, is like a super Fender.

My fave setting on an F Bass is every eq knob on the preamp maxxed. Sounds GREAT. :)

Mmmmmm... tone... maxxed. One of the coolest things is that when you do that, the volume doesn't go through the roof. Even though the EQ is boost only. Unlike an Aguilar OBP-3, for example. Which, even though it sounds great, one must be cautious with the bass control lest one causes bowels to move in the front row. Too much of a good thing can sometimes cause, shall we say, issues. ;)

That bass looks amazing. George is one of the best builders period. Of all the basses I have ever owned and played the body shape and comfort is the best. Absolutely the most balanced instrument I have ever played. I agree with George and Fodera for that matter although many won't that for the most part a heavier bass will sound better, fuller, deeper, punchier. It's been my experience 80% of the time. If a bass is less than 8 Lb it feels and sounds like a toy to me.
