I posted this over at the TB Lull thread as well, thought I'd share here since it's lefty related. I took the neck off my Mike Lull M5V for the first time to do a truss rod adjustment and found a cool little discovery: Hard to see but under the marker it says 'Paul Frazier'. a quick google search reveals that he is David Byrne's bassist: So this neck must have originally been for him but for whatever reason was not used and put into stock. |

Why are you taking the neck off? You should be able to adjust the truss rod with the neck on, if you are careful and have the right-size screwdriver. . . Although, shame on Lull for not using a spokewheel design ... |

I was tightening it and I wasn't getting a good grip no matter what screwdriver I tried - even with the cutout it's still just too much of an angle. So instead of risking stripping the screw head I just took it off. |

The truss in mine has been pretty easy to adjust, but it's really disappointing not to see a spoke wheel nut at this price point. |

Not sure what kind of screwdriver you were using, but I always had WAY better luck adjusting my Lull with a really wide slotted screwdriver similar to this... I think when people see the cross or X there, they think Phillips head... but a Phillips head screw is always dangerous to use at any angle. If it's a hex head adjustment, ball-end hex keys are where it's at. Anyway... cool story! |

Thanks Addison, yeah I always use a flathead. Even then I was getting the best angle, and hey any excuse to do a little disassembly and explore works for me |

The only thing worse than a slot-head screwdriver is a Phillips head. God those things are awful in every way. It drives me absolutely nuts that square or hex drives aren't standard on everything. |
