Holy crap, that is totally totally outrageous. Jimmy needs to make it right, and be quick about it. |

Sorry to hear this, Addison. I hope you're going the usual route to get this resolved. File report with BBB, credit card, etc. It's bad enough most manufacturers give us lefties a hard time about making lefty instruments at all, but to pass off that piece of shit as a boutique instrument at a boutique price is inexcusable. This is not the first time I've seen inferior craftsmanship or lazy attention when it comes to lefties. but this is certainly one of the worst examples I've ever seen. It's as if they hate making them, so they churn 'em out ASAP to get them done so they can move on to their real "bread and butter". So he doesn't want to take it back because he's afraid he'll have a hard time passing it off on to another poor lefty soul, eh? What a dick. I say it might be time he learned just how close knit our little community is by busting his balls so hard it scares him from ever making another lefty again. We don't need more overpriced crap out there. I've posted warning on Facebook. Here's Alleva Coppolo's Facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/allevacoppolo Let him know we're not second rate citizens. |

Keep trying, Chris. You've handled this whole fiasco as a gentleman. I probably would've blown a gasket, and much sooner. And if I can give you some tough love, what were you thinking, buying a $5000 bass sigh-unseen with no return policy? I think that G.A.S. got the best of you, bro. There is no Holy Grail - it's all in your fingers. Anyhow, and think that between your polite emails to him, and the monster thread at TalkBass, Jimmy would be forced to make things right. Now, let's be positive and start planning what you are going to do with those $5000 when you get them back . . . |

Thanks dudes... I really appreciate the support. It honestly means a lot. pjmuck wrote: It's as if they hate making them, so they churn 'em out ASAP to get them done so they can move on to their real "bread and butter". Matt R, Thumbslam and Gravesbaass and I have all talked at length about this, and I'd say we collectively agree with you 100%. It's like we should feel lucky to get what we end up with... hey, maybe that mcarp guy and I have more in common than I thought! pjmuck wrote: I've posted warning on Facebook. Here's Alleva Coppolo's Facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/allevacoppolo Let him know we're not second rate citizens. I didn't get a chance to check it out, but I heard his FB page turned into a war zone and they eventually removed the posts and the ability for people to make posts. Lefty007 wrote: There is no Holy Grail - it's all in your fingers. Trust me man... I know. I'm literally losing sleep... I'm a wreck. However, if you heard this thing... I mean, honestly... botched finish job aside, if I was able to get it set up like my other basses (I can't even get it close), it would definitely fall into the "everything I've always wanted" category. It just sounds KILLER. Lefty007 wrote: Now, let's be positive and start planning what you are going to do with those $5000 when you get them back . . . I'm honestly looking at one bass for less than half of that price to tide me over until Joe Z finishes a bass that he and I have talked about. |

MY goodness, that's disgraceful. Chris I applaud you for keeping your cool and going about this the proper way. I can't say if I'd be able to keep my composure under similar circumstances. I read the entire TB thread, and I think it should reiterated here that NO ONE should be contacting AC about this besides Chris. According to the TB thread, he allegedly received a number of nasty, some threatening, emails. Doing this will never help and only serve to deflect the real issue. What would have been nicer to see would be existing AC owners politely contact him and submit their vote for a full refund to Chris. Good luck man, will be following this closely and rooting for you. |

I've read the whole TB thread, sorry to hear you're going through this. You are handling it all with a tact and class few could keep up. Good on you for that. We're a tiny group here but if there's anything we can do to help don't hesitate to ask. |

Awful, awful situation man, so sorry to hear. Do you need to borrow a bass? |

Read through the thread on TB - unbelievable, no excuse for the condition of the bass you received. If you need to borrow a bass I could lend you one - I have too many anyway. We can all sympathize with you because we lefties often have to buy basses without trying them. There is no way a good builder should have let this leave the shop in the condition it is in. I hope he makes it right. |

Thanks for the kind words, guys... and for the very generous offers of help and support. I really, REALLY appreciate it. If worse comes to worse, I'll let y'all know if I need help... but, regardless of the outcome, I'll be fine. |

Well, for what it's worth, he wants the bass back and said he'll give me a full refund... but not without making some personal attacks and insinuating some pretty hurtful things about me. But, whatever... I just hope the final chapter of this mess is closed soon. Thanks again guys. Chris |

Chris Don't let his insinuations hurt you - he's shown to all of us where he's coming from, and we all know your character here... There's no real damage done to you, and it will soon be over. Jimmy on the other hand, is going to have to wear this dead chicken around his neck for awhile.... glad to hear your refund is coming... the power of the internet, and bassists united! bbl wrote: Glad to hear the worst of the ordeal is over. Jimmy's rebuttal confirmed my initial impression of him after talking to him a few times at NAMM, which is something akink to an oily snake in the grass. A pretty slippery dude to say the least. Addison, I am glad he's going to refund your purchase price, but please please pleae make sure that you also protect yourself in the return process. I'd hate to have you ship the bass and wait any longer than neccessary for the refund to get initiated. |
