Well, I'm a bit out of control, but I'm hoping this will be the last bass I buy in awhile. Just ordered a new Pat Wilkins bass, Road Tested Series, somewhat like the one below but with some cool specs: Ash body, maple neck and fretboard (with satin vintage tint) Sonic blue finish Anodized gold pickguard (or mint green if the latter is not available) Lollipop tuners (Hipshot Ultralites) Hipshot bent plate bridge Seymour Duncan Steve Harris signature pickup! Yeah, baby! (I usually play Dimarzio Ps, which actually are hotter than these, but I'm looking forward to having those new SPB-4s.) Pat is surprisingly accessible and accommodating. I was very close to putting a Warmoth order, but for some reason I like to buy basses from a shop that knows what they are doing (and I don't have a good tech close to me). Wilkins has gotten raving reviews about his basses. He makes the bodies and necks himself. . . pretty impressed, and seems to have a great stash of quality wood. Should be ready in only 2 moths or so. . . can't complain. Let the countdown begin. . . Similar model: Bass will look more like this: Or this body but with maple board. |

I'm interested in your opinion of the Harris P pickup. That's on my list of gear to try too. |

Pat does good work and his finishes you will find on many basses. He is a character. |
