...and if you do a search, there are a number of Carvin comments throughout various threads. I'm sure someone here will be able to answer any question for you. I've probably owned at least 16 different Carvins over the years (LBs, BBs, Icons, ACs, 4 and 5 strings, fretted and fretless)...and looking forward to getting my first SB one of these days.

I've had my LB75, all mahogany, since maybe 1993?? Maybe '94. It was my go-to bass for nearly two decades, until I got my custom-made Knuckle. Still my second go-to, edging out the G&L.

I have a 6-string lb-something waiting for clearence in the tax system. Haven't had a Carvin in my hands yet, but I'm really exited :mrgreen:

Carvins tend to sneak up on you. They are nice, right out of the box - very nice. But in two years or so, when you start looking at a new bass, you compare the new one to the Carvin, and that is when the appreciation settles in. Very good craftsmanship. Ergonomically very good. Although many people hate the electronics, I never changed out my stock pups and I get plenty of comments about the good tone.

it's a sunburst lb76p. cost you about 500$ and was the reason this thread was started. :D

Oh, you bid on it too?

I had the highest bid for several days and was convinced I could get the bass for 250$. I couldn't ;)

nope I haven't placed a bid on it. I thought it was-no offence- ugly as hell. so I thought that if I could get it for less then 400$
I'de go for it. I was pretty sure I could it for that low but on dday all the lurkers like me pupped up to snag it.

I do think the bass looks ok. In an 80s-kinda-way. Reminds me a tad of my first bass - an old blue sparkle Kramer.
The back of the fretboard is hideous though. But who gets to see that? ;)

I bought it because of the 6 strings and Carvins reputation for building affordable and solid basses :ugeek:

those were my considerations as well. it allso has a piezo pick up which is preaty damn nifty for something you got for so little cash. but I don't like strat looking guitars. & that transfers into my bass aesthetics as well.
as far as the sunburst thing goes- I've had two sunburst guitars, on my g&l legacy I hated it. on my les paul custom I love it.
so it's a hit or miss thing with me.
I have the same back of the neck finish going on the back of my les paul. can't say I like it :lol:
