what's up fellow lefties. I've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks and decided to join.
I used to play guitar in a hard-core metal band and in the last few years my main musical endeavours
were electronic music. in the end I realized that I really really miss the actual playing experience.
and this when I show up at your doorstep. I want to start playing bass as a main instrument, a 6 string bass if we want to be specific about it.
so first of all that was my story, at least the part of it which relevant.
second of all I would really like to hear an opinion on this bass right here:
http://www.schecterguitars.com/products ... dio-6.aspx
the schecter stilleto studio 6. I'm seriously considering buying one, BUT I'm a lefty who lives in Israel so I wouldn't get a chance to check it out before I play it. what do guys think about it? any ony here owns one?

I've played the 4 string version, have owned the 5, and still own the 8. I will say their quality control is very consistent across the Stilleto line. If I wanted a 6, I wouldn't hesitate buying one from that standpoint. The only possible issue for me would be determining if the string spacing would accomodate my needs. Oh, and I'd look at the possibility of neck dive, which I can't comment about as I have not seen one in person.

Welcome to the forum!

Those Schecters Stiletto Studios are definitely great for the price. I only tried the fretless 5 but I really liked it.
If you don't mind me asking, why a 6 strings bass and not a 5 strings bass?

thanks for the welcomes. and I'm going 6 strings because I have a hard on for extended range.
I've been playing live electronic music in the past few years, and my main "instrument" in that constellation
was the launchpad. on which if you play it as a keyboard you get 5.5 octaves. so coming from that to a 5 or a 4 string bass would feel somewhat limiting.
on top of that I really want to learn how play touch style.

Ok cool. I would only recommand a 6 to someone like you who has a clear idea of it's application and will usw the whole range of the instrument.

I have a Schecter studio 6 and I think it is a fantastic bass for the money. If you can get used to the narrow string spacing you can probably grow to love it such as I have.

there's a shop which carries them about an hour drive from here. I guess I'll go give the righty version a go.
but aside from the string spacing I take it that you love the instrument.
my options (the way I see 'em) are either this schecter or a raven west 6 string bass.
while the raven west are nice looking and real cheap, the schecter gets 5 out of 5 on every review I read, that's hard to beat!

Tried to find the bass; no longer on their website as far as I can tell, so it must have been sold.

I have an Elite 5 and it is a very good bass. Sounds great and the neck feels and plays great, very comfy. One of these days I'd love to get a Studio 8.

It's sill there. For some strange reason, it is listed under guitars. You have to search in guitars and use "LH" to find it.

Sorry I don't know the actual string spacing measurements. You really need to try one, even a righty just to get the feel of one. Good luck!
