Did Gibson say if you can get them from any dealer, or just Southpaw?

Have been reading alot on them lately and was wondering if anyone out there had any concern with the quality these days with Gibson? Wouldnt want to order one of these lefty's, have it shipped and something wrong with it as there wont be many made. I guess that can happen with any guitar

IMO, their quality control issues mostly occur with their acoustic instruments. And it's more of a tone issue that a build issue, tho i suppose the two are inter-related. Gibby produces a lot of tone-turds out of Montana.
I haven't heard of any quality contol issues re their basses or guitars, tho doubtlessly there would be some lemons out there given the sheer quantity of Gibson's output.

I encountered a recent QC issue with Gibson's Traditional Plus Les Paul. I ordered both the cheaper Traditional Mahogany Satin LP and the Sunburst Plus with the intention of A/B'ing them and keeping one or the other because I wanted to see if the Plus was worth the $800 additional. (The Satin was supposed to be a blemished model, but I can't find and dings). The book matching on the front of the Plus looked like a checkerboard - horrible seam match with 4 different looking sections. Despite having a maple top, the tones were muddy without note clarity. I returned the Plus and told the sales rep. that I thought the QC was poor. He pretty much confirmed that I wasn't the only one complaining and said that Gibson were crunched to release product and possibly rushed guitars due to the FBI pressures.

The Mahagony Satin, made prior to those issues, is a fantastic guitar, BTW, and other than aesthetics I really don't know what a maple top brings to the table since it has all the classic warmth and bite of a great LP. I love it.
