Hi Guys thanks for the info on the collins bass it just sold. Next on the list is the TBC the bass company bass guitars, its a lefty 5 string fretless single m/m humbucker maple neck, anyone have any experience with the Bass Company? Saw an advertisement of TBC in Bass Player about 6 years ago, that's the only thing I ever saw or heard of them. It was a very sleek bass with design elements of a Jazz Bass, with a dark wooden 'pickguard' covering most of the face of the body. Looked very interesting. It had two J-style pickups and all I could gather was that it was made in China for an American company that sold them online through their own eBay store. It was very affordable but looked great for the money.

Edit: I just looked them up, and their site dinstinctly says their instruments are designed and handbuilt in the "USA". That's a surprise . I thought they only did the final assembly and setup in the USA.


By the way, are you that guy in Ireland that always has a couple of lefty basses for sale on eBay and leftybass.com?

TBC basses were well-built for the price. I met Lydia Pence and Cold Blood a few years back, who were in Honolulu for a concert, and went to a sound check. Her bass player was playing a TBC bass, although at the moment, I can't recall if it was a four, or five string. It sounded great though, especially for playing funk, which is the style of Cold Blood, ala Tower Of Power.

As a side note, Lydia Pence and Cold Blood are from the San Francisco Bay Area, as is Tower Of Power, and they've traded players/rhythm sections back and forth over the years. If you get a chance, check out their music, they're a great band! Had the pleasure to play bass with them at a pre-concert gig at a small club, to drum up more ticket sales for their concert. Their bass player and drummer hadn't arrived in town yet, so myself and a drummer buddy got the opportunity to play with them... it was a blast!

Anyway, I always thought the TBC bass was a great buy for the money.

Thanks for the information again, and no I'm not the guy from Ireland. Yes he has the basses on Ebay , he has a nice collection of lefty stuff I have done business with him and he is a stand up guy. Im just trying to find something a little off the path of Fender Fender Fender, beautiful and play great, just trying to expand the bass playing experience and try bass guitars with different tones.

Anybody have a Kramer XKB20 lefty on the planet? I think there all gone
